Crusaders News · Varsity Girls Basketball Team Off To A Great Start

This season is off to a 3-1 start for the Varsity Girls Basketball team under the leadership of Coach Hargrove. The team has won all three games by an average margin of seventeen points. This is Coach Hargrove’s second season as the head coach of the Lady Crusaders, along with his amazing assistants LaToya Hargrove, Caroline Walke, and Kimberly McLemore. Coach Hargrove said, “My assistants always have the team prepared and ready.”

Head Coach Lucas Hargrove said, “This team is instinctively brilliant and full of personality. Coaching them is like a breath of fresh air! They are abnormally positive and extremely coachable!”

The team just beat their crosstown rival, Ben Lippen. They look forward to the upcoming schedule. Before the Christmas break, the team still faces Spartanburg Christian, WW King Academy, and Gilbert High School before they go into two Christmas tournaments. The girls will compete in Newberry for a Christmas tournament on the 19th of December. They will also play in the regionally recognized Low Country Invitational in historic Charleston, South Carolina from December 28th through the 30th.

Team captains Kaitlynn Ford and Madison Stutts take on the leadership role effortlessly and have prepared their teammates consistently to play well and with heart.

With no seniors, the team has a very promising upside. The team consists of four sensational Juniors — Kaitlynn Ford, Madison Stutts, Elizabeth Everett, and Kaitlyn Banks. Paired with super Sophomores, Shandrea Pringle and Riley Colby. Our Freshman class is rounded out with Natalie Walke and Victoria Thomas.

Coach Hargrove enthusiastically spoke about how the team has embodied the scripture Colossians 3:23.

Lastly, Hargrove and his staff would like to thank Pastor Crede, Northside Administration, the entire student body, and the community of Lexington for supporting the girl’s program and relentlessly providing the necessary tools and accommodations to put them in a position to be successful.

We look forward to seeing you at our next home game on December 14th against Gilbert High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM. In the words of Coach Hargrove, “Don’t cheat yourself, treat yourself” to the experience of a Northside Christian Academy Lady Crusader basketball game!
