Coed Varsity Cross Country · Varsity Girls Capture Region Title

Last Wednesday (October 21st, 2020), the Varsity Cross Country Girls Team captured their first Region Championship. The Crusaders finished ten points ahead of Palmetto Christian Academy in the SCISA 2A-Region I Meet, respectively. The top five girls on the team all finished in the top ten, as Ella Jeffrey finished 2nd overall and Sian Cantave finished 4th overall (with both receiving medals); a huge accomplishment in itself. Kaitlynn Ford, Selah Cantave, and Bayleigh Womack finished 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively. The Crusaders were elated to attend their first Region Title Meet in school history, ending the event with a win and bringing a trophy back to Northside in the process!

The young Crusader Boys Team continues to improve as they try to compete with more experienced competition. Sophomore Connor VanHoosier set a personal record with a time of 22:15, while finishing in the top twenty as he finished 18th overall. Haydn Hutto continues to improve and has forced his way onto the Varsity roster. He finished the race with a time of 24:29, a personal best. Newcomer Ethan Lafave finished with a time of 24:43 in his Cross Country debut as a Crusader, while JT Wiggins finished with a personal record of 24:28.

Next, the Crusaders will look to chase down their first State Title as they will participate in the 2A- SCISA State Meet at Heathwood Hall on October 31st. The Girls will race at 11:45 A.M., with the Boys race to follow.
