Northside Christian Academy varsity football is moving into the 4th quarter of the football season now and this year has already seen some marquee wins that show progress for the future. The Crusaders downed Jefferson Davis 40-8 at home and toppled Conway Christian on the road 36-8. In both games, the Crusaders showed why they are capable of beating anyone on the schedule this season. In the Conway Christian game, Charlie Compton had 3 receiving TD’s, while Brayden Ross and Max McKenna each had one touchdown.
Against Jefferson Davis, Max McKenna had 4 touchdown passes, including two 51 yard strikes to Charlie Compton. Jake Daniels had a 26 yard touchdown reception and a 91 yard scoop and score defensive touchdown. Luke Cochran added a 58 yard touchdown reception. Brayden Ross completed the scoring with a 9 yard TD run.
Northside has several underclassmen that have flashed this season, such as sophomore Luke Cochran at receiver, junior Jake Daniels all over the field, and freshman Gaven Ford is now starting on defense. Sophomore, Braeden Patterson, is starting to come into his own, especially on the defensive side of the ball. With a slew of 8th graders and 9th graders that have already dressed out for varsity games, the foundation is being built for Coach Bell to continue building the program. “We are going to get there,” stated Coach Bell. The 4th year coach continues to teach toughness to his ball club which pays dividends not just on the gridiron but in life. “The lessons we want our kids to learn is so much bigger than football,” stated Bell.
The Crusaders will play at Wardlaw Academy this Friday night, with kickoff slated for 7:30pm. The final home game of the season (senior night) will be next Friday night again Charleston Collegiate. NCA will close the season on the road at Palmetto Christian, October 30.
