Last week Northside Basketball hosted senior night, as it was an emotional night for the varsity boys and girls. The senior girls consisting of Caroline Bedenbaugh, Sarah Crump, English Reeves, Kandace Letton, Sarah Hardaway, and Sarah McKenna all made a huge difference in getting the girls basketball program on solid ground. The girls team lost a close game on the night but the season was a tremendous success. Coach Lucas Hargrove was very pleased with his inaugural season as girls head coach. “With the resurgence of the varsity girls program, I am very proud of the effort that our girls gave and even more proud of the support from the community. I am excited to build upon the foundation that our seniors have laid. Our team’s verse was Philippians 4:13 and in the spirit of that verse, we are very excited about the future,” stated Coach Hargrove.
The varsity boys team also had a great senior night as Cory Black and Thomas Kodman played in their last NCA home game. Black scored 12 points and Thomas Kodman hit his first three pointer of his senior season in the home finale as the Crusaders defeated Thomas Sumter Academy by 28 points. Both players have been mainstays at Northside for many years and the duo led Northside back to the state playoffs for the 6th consecutive year. “I am so proud of the way that Thomas and Cory have led our program. They will be very successful in life. We have everyone back next year besides the two of them, and I think the future is brighter than ever for NCA Basketball,” stated Coach Harman.
