Girls Varsity Volleyball · Volleyball Senior Night and Playoff Picture

The Northside Crusader Varsity Volleyball team finished with a bang at home against Hammond on Monday this week for Senior Night.  Coach Brian Elrod had the Crusaders clicking as usual as they finished off the regular season.  The Crusaders won in 4 sets against Hammond and the seniors led the way as usual.  This group of seniors will be sorely missed at NCA as they all have been key members not only of the volleyball program but for the school as a whole.  The JV volleyball team preceded the varsity with a dominating win in back to back sets against the Seahawks.  Coach Jim Prather continues to show his volleyball pedigree as his teams continue to thrive and prepare players for the varsity in years to come.

Tuesday night, NCA traveled across town to Heathwood Hall and again won in convincing fashion against the Highlanders in JV and Varsity play.  Everything comes to a head this weekend as the Crusaders will travel to Myrtle Beach tomorrow evening to prepare for the opening round of the State Volleyball Playoffs beginning at Noon Friday.  The #3 seeded Crusaders will first face #2 seeded, Colleton Prep.  The winner of the opening match will advance to face the winner of the Thomas Sumter vs. The King’s Academy contest.  Regardless of the outcome this weekend, the five volleyball seniors of Sierra Brownell, Nicole Funderburk, Maryn Brewer, Evelyn Fitz, and Darcy Smith will be long remembered.  The Crusaders will break through with a deep playoff run either this year or in the near future and when they do, there is no doubt the foundation set by this senior group will be a key ingredient to the success.  Good luck to our Crusaders this weekend at State!
